Scientists have managed to create the world’s first self-replicating living robots. These PacMan-like living robots are made from frog cells and can create smaller versions of themselves that can also replicate.
Xenobots, as these are called, are made of around 3000 cells and form a sphere. In its early stages, the Xenobot parent could make one child before dying out. The effectiveness of the cell to create copies was greatly improved by altering its shape. Using artificial intelligence, billions of shapes were tested to determine which shape was most effective. The result? A Pac-Man.
